  4. The file ShareWayIPUsersGuide.html, which can be read by any Web browser, contains details of installing and using the ShareWay IP Gateway.  The file AFPEngageUsersGuide.html contains details of installing and using AFP Engage! to easily find and access servers supported by ShareWay IP.

If you are running the evaluation version of ShareWay IP, it will expire 10 days after the date it is first run.  Upon purchase of ShareWay IP, you will be sent a serial number which eliminates the 10 day restriction.  A single copy of a non-expiring version of AFP Engage! will be included with each copy of ShareWay IP purchased.

  8. ShareWay IP changes since 1.1.1

  10. • ShareWay IP registers with the Service Location Protocol (SLP) if the SLP plug-in is present (Mac OS 8.5 or later).  Through SLP and AFP Engage!, ShareWay-targeted servers can be browsed and accessed in a Chooser-like point-and-click manner over IP.

  12. • A single license for AFP Engage! is included with each copy of ShareWay IP.

  14. • A real-time connection log has been added.
  15.  
  16. • A background-only version of ShareWay IP is included with the release.

  18. • Full support for Mac OS 8.5, including having 8.5 display the correct icon when a supported server is mounted.

  24. • If the SLP plug-in is present, a new "Browse AFP Servers" window is available, which lists ShareWay IP servers (and others) registered with SLP.

  26. • AFP Engage! registers with Mac OS 8.5's Internet Control panel (or Internet Config) as the helper app for AFP.

  39. Known limitations:
  40.  
  41. • There are various limitations with Apple's implementation of SLP.  See the AFP Engage! Users' Guide and Open Door's white paper at http://www.opendoor.com/shareway/slp.html for details.

  43. • Due to a bug in the SLP plug-in, previously registered server names may show up in the AFP Engage! browse window even if those names are no longer valid.  To prevent such names from being displayed, delete the file "SLPRegisteredServices" from the Preferences folder on the ShareWay IP machine where those names were previously registered, and restart that machine.  The ShareWay machine's IP address can be obtained in the AFP Engage! browse window by selecting the previously registered name and checking the "Server Information" part of the window.

  45. • If a modal dialog is displayed while ShareWay IP is the frontmost application, the server targeted by ShareWay IP will not be visible through SLP until that dialog is removed.

  47. • SLP registration will not work if ShareWay IP is running on an inactive PPP link.  Bring the link up first before running ShareWay IP.
